Our software development kit, TASBooks SDK, allows you to integrate with or increase the functionality of TASBooks by pushing data in and pulling data out seamlessly.
TASBooks SDK allows you to enhance TASBooks existing capabilities and features. It allows you to integrate TASBooks with third-party commercial or bespoke software applications.
It can be used with any programming language that supports the Component Object Model (COM) specification for reading from and writing to the TASBooks database. With extensive data validation in-built there is no need to worry about detailed knowledge of TASBooks business rules.
TASBooks SDK
TASBooks SDK lets developers of proprietary and third-party software connect their applications to TASBooks.
The SDK uses Component Object Model (COM) technology to build a ‘connection’ between an application and the TASBooks database. This technology lets an application ‘talk’ to TASBooks and can create, revise, update or delete (CRUD) records in the database directly. TASBooks can also ‘talk’ to your application and create, revise, update or delete records. This means that TASBooks SDK is bi-directional. You can ‘push’ data in and ‘pull’ data out.
TASBooks SDK gives developers direct programmatic access to the TASBooks database. This means that developers can find and use the information they need easily and quickly. This means that developers need only a limited knowledge of how TASBooks operates. This makes our SDK easier to deploy than traditional ODBC/SQL frameworks.

The SDK can be used with any programming language that supports COM technology. This includes:

COM technology is used in applications such as Microsoft Office. For example COM OLE technology allows Word documents to dynamically link to data in Excel spreadsheets and COM Automation allows users to build scripts in their applications to perform repetitive tasks or control one application from another. This means that developers can build connections between TASBooks and any Microsoft Office application, including Access and Excel.
Components & Licensing
There are two components to TASBooks SDK. There is a developer component and an end-user component.
For Developers
TASLink is the developers’ component. To build an application or to connect any third-party software to TASBooks you need to have TASLink. It lets developers access the TASBooks database and connect it to their application.
For End-Users
TASflex is the end-users’ component. If you use TASLink to build a connection to the TASBooks database you need to have TASflex. It lets you use the data in TASBooks’ database.
To build a ‘connection’ between TASBooks and a third-party application you must have both components – TASLink and TASflex. They do not work individually. If you want to connect a database in Microsoft Access to TASBooks you need to have TASBooks SDK. The first step is to build the ‘connection’ between Microsoft Access and TASBooks. To do this, you use TASLink. It links the two together. When the ‘connection’ is ready to use, you need to use TASflex. It lets Microsoft Access create, revise, update and delete records in TASBooks and vice versa. TASLink and TASflex create TASBooks SDK.
A TASBooks software licence is required. If you do not have one, a TASBooks Development Licence is available.
